Product description
Ledger Stax is the latest hardware wallet from the Ledger brand. This product is expected to be released to the market by the end of March 2023. Until then, the product can be ordered as a pre-order.
Cryptocurrency support Ledger Stax
Ledger hardware wallets are known for the high number of crypto coins and tokens they can secure. This is no different for the Stax than previous Ledger wallets. Ledger Live is the application you use the Stax with. From Ledger Live, you can manage more than 500 crypto tokens that are thus fully integrated into Ledger Live. In total, you can manage more than 5,000 crypto coins and tokens with the Stax by connecting your Stax to other applications. For instance, by connecting your Stax to Metamask, you can manage all ERC20 tokens out there but Ledger Live will not be familiar with all ERC20 tokens.
Staking and DeFi
There are many crypto tokens that run on Proof of Stake, which means you can stake them. That way, you get a fee for staking these tokens. In Ledger Live, you can do this with the following coins:
- Ethereum
- Polkadot
- Tezos
- Cardano
- TRON
- Cronos
- Cosmos
- Elrond
- Algorand
- Solana
By connecting Stax to a third party, you can also stake these crypto currencies (among others):
- EOS
- NEO
- NEM
- Internet Computer
- Avalanche
- Kusama
- NEAR
- STACKS
- Waves
Using the Ledger Stax
To use the Stax, you need the Ledger Live application. The Ledger Live application can work on your phone (Android and iOS) or your computer (Windows, macOS and Linux). The Stax has bluetooth and with it you can easily connect to your phone. So you are very mobile and can use Stax in all places. In addition, you can also connect via the USB-C cable. This works best with your computer.
The Stax has a battery. You can charge it via the USB-C cable or charge it wirelessly. This way, you don't need a cable.
Design and name Ledger Stax
The Stax leaves behind the appearance of the previous Ledgers that fall under the 'Nano' banner. The Stax is a lot taller and wider. The screen covers almost the entire front of the Stax and is fully touchscreen.
This screen also allows you to change the appearance of the Ledger in a unique way. Because of the 'E Ink' screen, you can give your Stax a name that it displays and it can also display any of your Ethereum or Polygon-based NFTs.
Stax refers to the ability to put multiple Stax Ledgers on top of each other. They then snap together because of built-in magnets. This allows you to "stack" them. The name is also ambiguous because "stacking sats" is a term used among Bitcoiners for storing satoshis (small pieces of Bitcoin).
Ledger Live: buying, selling and NFTs
Ledger Live lets you do much more than just manage your crypto coins. We already discussed the ability to strike from Ledger Live, but you can also display Ethereum and Polygon NFTs in Ledger Live. Besides, these days you can buy and sell crypto currencies without needing an exchange. In fact, from Ledger Live, you can do this via partner integrations from your wallet. When you buy something, it comes directly to your Stax wallet and from this wallet you can also sell.
