Advantages of Keystone 3 Pro
- Bitcoin-only firmware option: The Keystone 3 Pro allows you to choose between Bitcoin-only firmware or altcoin firmware. Firmware refers to the software on the hardware wallet itself. With Bitcoin-only firmware, you can only manage Bitcoin. With altcoin firmware, you can manage all coins supported by Keystone, including Bitcoin.
- NFT screensaver: The Keystone 3 Pro can display an NFT as a screensaver.
- 4-inch touchscreen display: The screen has a 4-inch diameter, which is even larger than the Ledger Stax. The touchscreen makes operation very user-friendly.
- Fingerprint unlocking: You can set up fingerprint unlocking so you can easily access the Keystone without having to enter a PIN every time.
- Multiple private keys / Seed Phrases: The Keystone 3 Pro has 3 Secure Elements (security chips), allowing it to store 3 private keys or Seed Phrases. This means you can manage three different "wallets" with the Keystone 3 Pro.
- Advanced features available: Optional advanced features such as Shamir Backup and Passphrase (25th word) are supported.
- Open-source: The Keystone 3 Pro is an open-source hardware wallet, allowing the community to review its source code.
Disadvantages of Keystone 3 Pro
- No dedicated application: Keystone has not developed its own application for the Keystone 3 Pro. Instead, you use it by connecting it to external software wallets. For example, the Keystone 3 Pro can be connected to MetaMask, OKX Wallet, Solflare, and BlueWallet. You use the interface of these software wallets while your private key remains on the Keystone 3 Pro. This works well in general, but if you manage multiple coins, you may not be able to handle them all within a single application.
Who is the Keystone 3 Pro suitable for?
We recommend the Keystone 3 Pro to anyone who:
- Wants a large touchscreen display
- Wants to use the wallet with their mobile phone (this is easiest via QR code scanning)
