Advantages of the Ledger Stax
- Large touchscreen display: This is where the Stax stands out from the rest. Its screen has a diameter that is even 2 cm longer than the Flex. Thanks to the large touchscreen, you have a much better overview when making transactions. The Stax is significantly more user-friendly than the Nano S Plus or Nano X.
- Additional features: While not essential for everyone, the Stax is the only Ledger hardware wallet that supports wireless charging. It also features a partially curved E-ink display, allowing a name to be displayed on the side of the wallet. Additionally, you can display an NFT on the screen, which remains visible even when the Stax is powered off.
- Protective case included: The Stax is the only Ledger hardware wallet that includes a protective case. There is a reason for this: the screen is made of plastic (see 'Disadvantages of the Ledger Stax').
- Supports many cryptocurrencies: Ledger hardware wallets are known for supporting a wide variety of cryptocurrencies and tokens. The Stax is no different, supporting the same coins as the Nano S Plus, Nano X, and Flex.
- Equipped with Bluetooth and a rechargeable battery: This allows you to use the Stax on the go. A full battery lasts approximately 10 hours or 150 transactions.
- Compatible with PC: In addition to its Bluetooth capabilities, you can also connect the Stax to your computer if you use Linux, macOS, or Windows as your operating system.
- Ledger Live: The Ledger Stax works with Ledger's application, Ledger Live. This app offers additional features such as buying, selling, and staking directly within the app.
Disadvantages of the Ledger Stax
- Premium price tag: With a price of €399, this wallet is in the higher segment of hardware wallets. This price may not be suitable for everyone. If this applies to you, consider the Ledger Flex instead.
- Plastic screen: Due to its partially curved E-ink display, the Stax has a plastic screen. This makes it less durable and scratch-resistant compared to the Gorilla Glass screen of the Ledger Flex.
Who is the Ledger Stax suitable for?
We recommend the Ledger Stax for people who:
- Intend to use their wallet daily or weekly. The higher price will pay off in greater ease of use.
- Want to use it with an iOS or Android phone and/or a Windows, macOS, or Linux computer.
If you find the Stax interesting but too expensive, consider the Ledger Flex. The Flex is €150 cheaper, has a slightly smaller screen, and does not support wireless charging. Otherwise, the Stax and Flex are very similar.
Are you not planning to use your Ledger often and don’t mind a smaller screen? Then the Ledger Nano S Plus (if you only plan to use the Ledger with a PC) or the Ledger Nano X (if you want to use the Ledger with both your smartphone and PC) might be a better fit for you.
