Advantages of the Trezor One
- Very affordable: The Trezor One costs only €49.
- Colors: Available in black and white. This is especially handy if you own more than one, as it makes them easier to differentiate.
- Bitcoin-only firmware: Like other Trezors, you have the option to install Bitcoin-only firmware on your Trezor One. This means you can’t manage other coins with your Trezor One, and your wallet will contain no unnecessary code.
Disadvantages of the Trezor One
- No Secure Element: Like the Trezor T, the Trezor One does not have a security chip. This makes the wallet vulnerable, particularly in cases of physical theft. If you plan to use the Trezor One, we recommend doing so in combination with a passphrase/25th word.
- Small screen: The screen is small and not easily readable for everyone.
- Two buttons: You only have two buttons to operate the wallet.
- Doesn’t support all coins supported by other Trezors: Certain coins, such as Cardano and XRP, are not supported by the Trezor One but are supported by the Trezor T, Trezor Safe 3, and Trezor Safe 5.
Who is the Trezor One suitable for?
The Trezor One is a wallet suitable for beginners who want to try out a hardware wallet without spending too much.
However, if you are more serious about Bitcoin or crypto, we recommend purchasing the Trezor Safe 3 or Trezor Safe 5 instead of the Trezor One.
