Blockstream Jade Review
The Jade hardware wallet is made by the American company Blockstream. Adam Back, a well-known Bitcoiner, leads this company. The Jade is a Bitcoin-only hardware wallet that also supports the Liquid Network and its associated tokens. This is a layer-2 solution on Bitcoin. On this page, you’ll find all the advantages and disadvantages of the Jade, helping you decide if this wallet is right for you.
Tip! Interested in the Jade? You can get a discount on your Jade when you order it together with a metal backup plate. This allows you to securely store your recovery seed, which is essential. Check out the Blockstream Jade + SOLIDHODL discount bundle.

Advantages of the Blockstream Jade
- Very affordable: It is the most budget-friendly Bitcoin-only hardware wallet available, priced at around €79.95.
- Liquid Network support: While not essential for everyone, the Jade supports the Liquid Network and its tokens, a Bitcoin layer-2 solution.
- Compatible with multiple wallet apps: Blockstream developed the Blockstream Green wallet for use with the Jade. However, the Jade can also connect with other Bitcoin wallet apps such as Sparrow, Nunchuk, Specter, BlueWallet, Wasabi, and Electrum. Note that some apps may only work with the desktop version, while others support mobile as well.
- Air-gapped / QR-code support: The Jade can be used not only via cable and Bluetooth but also in air-gapped mode. You can store your private key in the form of a QR code, which you scan each time you sign a transaction. This ensures the private key is not permanently stored on the Jade itself.
- Advanced features: The Jade supports Multisig, duress PIN, SeedQR, and TOTP authentication.
Disadvantages of the Blockstream Jade
- Small screen: The screen is small but does have a bright color display, making it easier to read compared to other wallets in the same price range.
- Few buttons: The Jade features a scroll wheel for left and right navigation and a single button on the front for confirming selections. While functional, it is less user-friendly than a touchscreen.
Good to know
- Bitcoin-only: We’ve mentioned this a few times, but it’s worth emphasizing again: the Blockstream Jade only supports Bitcoin.
- Mobile support: The Jade is compatible with iOS (Apple) and Android devices.
- Desktop support: The Jade works with Windows, macOS, and Linux computers.
Who is the Blockstream Jade for?
We recommend the Blockstream Jade for anyone who:
- Wants an air-gapped wallet with SeedQR.
- Wants a Bitcoin-only hardware wallet at an affordable price.
- Wants to set up a Multisig wallet.
If you want a Bitcoin-only hardware wallet and have a higher budget, you may also consider the BitBox02 or Passport.
